Friends of Arlington's Great Meadows (in Lexington) - FoAGM |
Educational Mini-Grants from FoAGMFriends of Arlington’s Great Meadows (FoAGM) is offering educational mini-grants to K-12 teachers and students in non-profit organizations who want to do research, natural history study, or artistic projects in Arlington’s Great Meadows (AGM). If you need funds for a project that would increase your students’ understanding of and appreciation for the natural world, you are encouraged to apply for one of these mini-grants. Grant requests of up to $250 will be considered. Projects should give students direct, hands-on, and memorable experiences with some aspect of the natural environment in AGM. Some examples of possible projects are plant or animal studies, an informational and artistic poster about the Great Meadows, invasive plant management projects, or a project in which secondary classes develop a conservation education presentation for elementary schools. The first grant awarded in 2007 helped fund the construction of two beehives for AGM. Funds may be used for project-related expenses such as books and materials, field equipment, or printing costs of posters, for example. Students with adult sponsorship as well as teachers may apply. To apply for a mini-grant, please submit the attached application. Mail
or email the application to Sandra Ruggiero at the address given on the
application form. If you have questions you may call Sandra at (781) 863-5385.
Thank you for considering Arlington’s Great Meadows as a resource in your
students’ education. |
